If within your group of friends are two girls, one of whom you’re very much attracted to, and one whom you like but are not interested in, then what will generally happen is that all your efforts may or may not have much of an effect on the girl you are attracted to, but the girl you are not attracted to will almost surely fall deeply in love with you. The more you are attracted to the one, the deeper the other one will fall for you; it’s like somehow one attraction fuels the other.

This is called the Wrong One Corollary, and it runs rampant the world over.
