If you’re on an aisle seat of a full flight that has just landed and everyone is waiting to get off the plane, you can’t just jump to your feet immediately. Everyone will think you’re an idiot, because it’s not like you’re going anywhere. But if you just sit there, the people you’re blocking in the middle seat and the window seat will hate you, because they want to get up, or at least awkwardly inch their way toward the aisle. The correct answer is to sit on the edge of your seat, with a leg hanging out in the aisle, having all your body language say that you intend to stand up as soon as you can, but you can’t just yet.

All in all, nobody in the history of flying has ever enjoyed this process.
