Joe Baxter lives a hazy, uninspired life in the city, maintaining a steady job, and an illicit relationship with Danielle, a comely young woman from his office. But everything changes one night when he dreams of Jennifer, his ex-girlfriend from long ago. She pleads for him to make a fateful decision. In the aftermath, Joe's life is thrown into a tailspin, as he becomes convinced the dream was real, that Jennifer is in dire need of his help, and—most perplexingly—it was Danielle who all along was just but a dream.
The lines between reality and dreams become increasingly blurred as Joe falls into a tangled web with both women. Desperate for answers, he embarks on a harrowing, psychedelic journey, through cityscapes haunted and shattered. The dreams, he learns, become nightmares all too easily, and succumbing to sweet temptation may be what draws forth the demons, rising from the shadows, like one doesn't exist without the other. It might all be worth it, though.
